So I’m still not done talking or writing about my uncle’s home renovation project. Why? Because he just called me just a few minutes ago asking me who made my shelves. I said my contractor, of course. He then proceeded to ask me if he could copy the design. What would I answer to this? Can I tell him “no you may not because you have to be original with your designs and not copy someone else’s, especially if that someone is your niece?” Could I tell him that? Of course not. So I told him yes. I’m an idiot. Now everyone would think I copied from him. I have never been known for designing or for doing home projects. In fact, I used to loathe it. That came out harsh. I used to avoid it. I still do if I can be so honest. Anyway, what my uncle should do is get an interior designer or his own contractor. I know they have pretty good suggestions and ideas. Better yet, he should get Dallas remodeling. They have been in business for so many years now and they’re the trusted name in renovation in the Dallas area. That, is what my uncle shoud do.

This was the original design for my bookshelves. I wanted it kinda random or uneven and not the usual formal bookshelves you see in most houses and furniture stores.

And here’s the actual bookshelves now. But with a bit of difference. There’s now that huge space for a television and some of the holes have lights so that it can also serve as my display case for my collection.

This was one of the first things I told my architect to do a sketch of because my books are really important to me and I want it to have its proper place in our new home. I was reading Ty Pennington’s magazine one day and I saw a bookshelf similar to this but smaller and that’s where I got the inspiration for this design. But this is not the only bookshelves in the house. I had another one built inside my room but I was not able to take a photo of it the last time I was there. I will be posting some more photos in the coming days.
