My friend had a blast visiting New York last week. She went to the MET, visited Carrie’s apartment and just sat around doing nothing at Central Park. And she’s off to sunny California in two days to meet up with someone she met in one of the better california chat rooms around. Her new California friend promised to show her around. Hope she will have fun.

I think I am working too hard. I have another business that makes my afternoons completely filled. I don’t have any time for myself when I get home because that’s usually the time I have for my two kids. Although the eldest has a mind of his own now and can be left to look after himself, my little girl needs me all the time. I love spending time with her. If I could I would never leave her out of my sight. But I have to make money and I want to sleep after I work. But I can’t. If things don’t work out too well in the end and this business should fold up, I’m screwed. Perhaps, I should just get a Payday Loans Today but I forgot I’m not employed.

I remember when we were just in our teens, my sisters and I used to tease our younger brother about his english. He can’t speak in English. I knew he can but he would always make fun of himself whenever someone talked to him in English. One time he confessed to me how he desperately wanted to speak correct English and how he wished to go to the US and stay there for a month so he can practice and get that American twang. Well, none of that happened. He still makes fun of the English language and he hasn’t gone to the US even for a vacation. I suggest he stays in the Philippines, speak to fellow asians or he can join an asian chat room because from what I’ve heard, there are many members who can teach him a thing or two about the English language.

There’s so much buzz about healthcare and Obama’s proposal. I’m not really that familiar because I’m not eligible for it. Anyway, I still do think that we all need health insurance or any other kind of health care. If you’re in the market for one, consider BLUE CROSS TONIK.

I don’t know about you but my electricity and water bills have gone up. And to think we are only three in the family and consumption should not be as high compared to a regular family of six. My sister is complaining again. All her bills are going up, including her mortgage, utility bills and even heating bills. Higher credit card rates and fees hit her all the time. no problem cleaning

I still don’t have blinds or curtains for my windows. And I’m not even sure if I’ll ever put up one. Curtains are so hard to clean and for someone who hates cleaning, it would be a good idea to forgo any kind of window treatment. But of course, I’m still not decided. I might have one in the future especially when I start to have neighbors, privacy would be my number one concern. I can’t afford to have my neighbors looking on everytime I change clothes. Besides I could always call on Dalworth for Drapery Cleaning Dallas. They are the expert in cleaning curtains or drapreries, carpet, also tiles including all types of floors.

Lira Luis, a classmate in high school is holding a seminar on the effects of global warming on our environment. The seminar is called LEEDing Change in Confronting Global Warming. LEED meaning Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. She’s an architect and the first Filipino protege of Frank Lloyd Wright since 1932. The seminar will be held on January 21, 2009 in Tan Yan Kee Auditorium of the University of Santo Tomas. Here’s a ‘message’ from her via Facebook:

It’s been a couple of years since the last time I was in Manila and talked about our environment including global warming at the United Architects of the Philippines National Convention. At that time, an awareness of this environmental issue became apparent. Two years later, awareness is no longer enough. In 2008, an estimated amount in the trillions of ice has melted in the Arctic. We know the devastating effects this will bring to our environment.

This is why I write to you today asking for your support, as a concerned Filipino. You have an important role to play in relaying this message to other Filipinos, the private sector, NGOs, and even our government officials.

We are bringing a lecture/seminar to our fellow Filipinos about confronting Global Warming using LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) as a tool in managing our built environment and generating high-performance buildings, including ways to a greener/sustainable lifestyle.

Meanwhile, we know attending the seminar might not be possible for everyone, but we’re asking you to consider forwarding our invitation to the best and the brightest of your friends. For the first time, we have made this seminar free to selected movers-and-shakers in the technical, private, government, and academic sectors, through the generous support of Assa Abloy of New York and our company Atelier Lira Luis, LLC.
