I need real blinds soon. The ones hanging on my windows are temporary blinds made of paper. And they’re getting dirty. I can’t wash it because it’s paper. Oh well, when I bought them I knew they wouldn’t last long. What I need is wooden blinds that would match the interior of my home. The ones with dark wood tone. My sister lost one of her Lanyards again. And this time a key came with it. She’s been looking for it all morning yesterday but to no avail. I asked which was more important–the key or the lanyard. Of course, she answered that the key was more important because it’s the key to the back door of their house. So now she has to replace the door knob again. I told her if she purchased one of those beautifully crafted Beaded Lanyards with semi-precious stones, the chances of her losing another item would be slim to none. She would probably take good care of the lanyards and everything attached to it. Anyway, I might give her one if she keeps on losing things. where our dining set should be

I wanted my house to look like a model home. But as finances are tight right now, that wish would have to take a back seat. But I came across an article in one magazine saying that your house need not be perfectly clean, coordinated, or photoshoot-ready. The article suggested that each room only needs a well-lit chair to sit and read, a large flat workspace for projects and eating, and a comfy spot to rest. But those too, are quite hard for me to achieve especially when I don’t even have a dining set yet. Too bad.

Have you noticed how almost all storage boxes and bins are made of plastic? That’s why it took weeks before I actually got my place tidied up. I had a hard time looking for storage boxes that are both pretty and useful. Good thing I found ethnic storage boxes from Indian Home Decor. And they are really made from India and other countries and not just replicas or reproductions. Thank goodness. Now my place is getting to how I would like it to look.

graduation and other milestones

I can still remember how shy I was as a kid. Whenever there was a party at our house, I would normally go down for a bit but most of the time, I would just stay in my room and watch television. I would content myself with peeking from my half-closed door and see people enjoying themselves. And I have never been known to throw out my own birthday parties, let alone have one. Almost all my birthdays were intimate. Only my family and a few chosen friends were allowed to attend. But now that I have kids of my own, it’s a totally different story. I love organizing parties for my kids. I would put together a planning claendar with the menu, a guest list, party invitations and few activities to go with the theme of the party. It’s really fun especially when I see my kids happy and ecstatic with the outcome. I can’t help but be proud of myself. And what I’d really like to do next time is to make my son’s graduation invitation and personalize it. I would put his baby photos and other cute ones for all his friends and relatives to see. I’m pretty sure he’ll like it. Or not. But I’ll see to it that the finished product is fun and classy at the same time. Well, it won’t be long. Two years from now and he’ll be graduating from College. I can’t believe that he’s all grown and about to go from student to a professional. Okay, a lot of people who have seen our new home commented (sometimes in disbelief) on how devoid my house is of excess “stuff”! Yes, it’s the truth but I’m just starting to spruce up the place. I mean, I don’t even have a dining set yet. So to those people, do you feel better now? Besides, May is next month and I might get flowers for Mothers day from my kids. You’ll never know. And I might display that in my already bare condo unit. By the way, come back in a couple of months and I might throw in a rug just for you, guys.

The place should be finished by Saturday next week. I met with the contractor today and that’s what he promised me. It’s perfect since school would be over by then and I could totally focus on moving. Plus I asked for a 2-week vacation from MG’s therapy center so she and I could really rest and not think about ABC’s, 123 and gross motor skills for a change. Although that’s not advisable in MG’s case because she might regress but I think I owe my kid that. To let her be a normal kid for just two weeks. I know it wouldn’t hurt.

Anyway, I took photos of the mirror and sofa bed I bought last week. These two were on sale. Imagine my luck, I wasn’t actually looking for sale items. These two just caught my eye because of the color and style. It was a bonus that they were on sale. I saved a lot of money in the process.
