a good day

Today is turning out to be a very productive one for me. I’ve been working non-stop (except for lunch and occasional runs to the bathroom) since this morning and I’m loving it. It means I’m earning. I hope everyday would be like this. The only downside is I don’t get to have quality with my daughter as much as before. Anyway, she’s doing her assignments now and later, I would let her watch her favorite cartoons.

Just a few minutes ago while I was preparing MG’s snack, my brother called me to ask if he could borrow my car tomorrow. I said he can’t especially not tomorrow because I have a ton of errands to do. One of them is to actually have my car checked and schedule it for body repair at auto body shop montclair. The dents and bruises are nothing major but they still do irritate me to hell. So it’s time I do something about it before I even lose my mind every time I see the scratches. I don’t even know how I got those in the first place. So I said no to my brother. But I told him he can borrow it on Thursday since I’ll be in MG’s school the whole day anyway. He just has to fetch me after he uses it.

last quarter sale

Most shops and stores are having their last quarter sale this early in the month. I was at the mall last week and I could not help but check out the window displays with their sale banners plastered all over the window glass. If I only had the money now, I would have bought a few great deals on gadgets and shoes. But I must set my priorities. I have to buy things for my children first, then the house. My needs would have to be last, if there is even some money left. No, I’m not buying a new bathroom vanity, mine is still fine. Although oftentimes I feel like changing my bathroom vanity when I see more modern and sleeker Bathroom Vanities in furniture and bath showrooms. But then again, I have to take note of my priorities. One of the furniture I saw on sale were Poker Tables. My brother would surely take advantage of that. He needs one when it’s his turn to host one of the many poker nights with the boys. I just don’t know if his wife would approve. I know she hates it when my brother goes to one of these poker sessions. I say all the more buy one. At least, she could have my brother at home even if it’s poker night.

i need blinds

I need real blinds soon. The ones hanging on my windows are temporary blinds made of paper. And they’re getting dirty. I can’t wash it because it’s paper. Oh well, when I bought them I knew they wouldn’t last long. What I need is wooden blinds that would match the interior of my home. The ones with dark wood tone. There are many colours to choose from but dark tones seem to evoke certain elegance. It looks modern yet elegant. safety glasses

When our unit was being renovated, I noticed that some of the workers didn’t have protective gears like safety glasses and hard hats. I guess in our country safety of the workers is not the priority. That’s why I admire the US and other developed countries for really implementing safety codes in building and construction. Safety should be prioritized more than meeting deadlines and other issues. I mean, safety gears don’t even cost so much. A pair of pyramex safety glasses costs only around $2. And it costs even less if bought in bulk. Even the UVEX safety glasses are not so bad. Although they cost so much higher than the pyramex safety glasses. Anyway, the point is the cost of these safety gears is nothing compared to loss of human lives if in case an accident happens brought about by the absence of safety gears in the construction site. I know we have laws governing this but I guess the problem is the implementation. Land or building developers should be more strict about safety of the workers and safety and standard of the materials used. That’s just my sentiment. It’s not too late and I hope we won’t for another accident before we take safety seriously.

saltwater aquarium

Have you ever stood within a few inches or feet in front of an aquarium and suddenly felt so peaceful? That’s how I feel whenever I see and stare at a fish aquarium. It feels hypnotic. The water world seems do quiet as if everything inside it is living in harmony. I wish our world were like that. Quiet, relaxing and peaceful. We used to have a fresh water aquarium. In it were different types of fish; gold fish, janitor fish and the striped triungular ones. Fresh water fishes are ok but they tend to be common. Almost all the ones I know who have aquariums at home have fresh water fish. What I’d really like to assemble are Reef tanks with different types of saltwater fish in them. I noticed that salt water creatures tend to be more colorful. Aside from that, there are more choices than fresh water creatures. You can even put colorful live coral so that your tank would be more alive and beautiful. If I had more space, I would definitely build one. But since salt water aquariums take up more space than fresh water tanks, I would have to forgo that wish for awhile. When I get a bigger place, that’s one of the first things I would put inside my home.

I know someone who fears riding any two-wheel vehicles and that includes motorcycles and even the harmless children’s bikes. It is sometimes hilarious but I can somehow relate to her fear. I almost encountered an motorbike accident when I was just 13. Good thing my sister was able to turn the bike before we even hit a tree. So we just fell off from the bike with some bumps and bruises. I think that an alarm system for home is a must especially nowadays when there is theft and burglary everywhere. Thieves and burglars don’t just choose large houses to break in and enter, even modest houses are not spared. My sister has been robbed three in the last two years. That’s why she had an alarm system installed in her house last year. Of course, that added security makes her sleep more soundly at night. Even when she has to leave the house during the day for work, she does not worry more than usual because she knows that her house is safe and secure. But lately, she wants more security. I told her to get ADT. ADT has multi-levels of protection including fire, smoke and carbon monoxide detection. That’s all-around 24-hour protection for her family. A security that does not sleep. ADT is handled by trained professionals who immediately responds and reacts if there is a threat to your home. After the dispatcher attempts to contact you but to no avail, the dispatcher immediately alerts the police that there might be an ongoing burglary in your home. I might get one too for my home. Although we live in a condo and there are security guards all over the building, an added home security won’t hurt.

Guess what’s making a comeback although it was never really gone? It’s tumbled marble mosaic tile and I have used this material in my present kitchen. The mosaic tiles are so versatile. The one installed in my kitchen looks modern but there are varieties that can work more ways than one. There are natural-looking ones that would look best to warm up the kitchen.
